What is the Summit Housing Development Corporation?
The Summit Housing Development Corporation or SHDC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation separate from, but working in conjunction with, the County of Summit Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.
The SHDC was created to allow the CSBMR/DD the ability to access Capital Assistance Funds disbursed by the State of Ohio.
The CSBMR/DD is our number one priority for housing; however, the SHDC will contract with other entities meeting the criteria set forth in our mission statement.
The SHDC owns 78 homes in Summit County. It is governed by a Board of Trustees and currently has five full-time staff members.
The SHDC will work closely with the County Board or other agency staff to help individuals select the most suitable home.
